Hugo Boss announced the establishment of its own charitable foundation dedicated for the planet and aiming for greater impact in the future. With support from the newly formed foundation, the company's philanthropic activities will develop new partners, particularly organizations in the fields of climate and environmental conservation.
Hugo Boss is guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in climate action, supporting impactful projects such as flood prevention, climate improvement, education initiatives, and plastic pollution management, all contributing to social sustainability.
The foundation will operations on January 1, 2023, and will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Hugo Boss. The "Every Purchase Counts" initiative, launched concurrently, will serve as the primary source of funding for the foundation. Starting immediately, for every item of its own products (excluding licensed products) sold in global physical and online boutiques, Hugo Boss will donate 5 euro cents. This means that every Boss and Hugo customer will contribute to the foundation's work.
In recent years, Hugo Boss has provided significant support to organizations assisting disadvantaged communities, including those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the impacts of climate change, and regional armed conflicts. These donations will continue through the newly established foundation.
While fulfilling social responsibility may not directly translate into business profitability for fashion companies, it can help build a positive social image, convey the message of corporate social responsibility, and provide long-term value in the business sphere.
