Kiton released its 2024 Spring/Summer women's ready-to-wear and accessories collection, "Un’Estate Italiana".
Central to Kiton's colorful summer are, as always, intensely researched materials and refined textures, which are embellished by prints and patterns applied to the fabrics that suit them best. Along with linen, cotton, silk and linen-silk gauze, there is also room for another eternal classic: cashmere and cashmere-silk, ideal for cooler summer evenings.
According to Kiton:
Some summers are made to last. Especially when they are imprinted upon us through images, colors and scents that become part of the pathways of our memories, keeping us company during the colder seasons. They are the aromatic orange blossoms of Sicily, the strong, imposing olive trees of Puglia, and even the spectacular red-tinged sunsets of the Amalfi Coast: these flashes and nuances are part of the incredible journey which Kiton, a symbol of fine Italian tailoring around the globe, has set out on in the new women's collection, Un’Estate Italiana—An Italian Summer. It's an experience that immerses us in a cocoon-like world where colors are intensified and materials harmonise with a silhouette yearning to take time for itself, in complete relaxation. This meticulous quest for a wardrobe that’s fresh, functional and able to reflect the pure summer spirit starts in Sicily, with silks and linens which intermingle, opening up to the awe-inspiring scenery of the Mediterranean, and with prints intertwining with rush stitching and embroidery until they overlap, inspiring relaxation, clean lines and balance hinted at by sinuous, elegant brushstrokes. From fluttering volumes in shades of black and white to macro-flowers outlined and embroidered on cream-colored linen fabric—perfect for women who seize the freedom that leisure and summer can provide—Kiton's journey continues, stopping next in Puglia, the land of spectacular countryside by the sea.
The tones of green are perfect for sportier women who want to savour life and enjoy the natural world all around them, but also for a landscape in which the olive leaf becomes not only part of a refined yet sleepy backdrop, but also the keystone of a sensory journey that is expressed through soft shapes and relaxed outfits. The grand finale could only be found in the sunsets of Campania, with the earth painting itself in intense shades ranging from yellow to bronze, becoming prints and nuances. Textural silk, finely embroidered Sangallo lace and openwork fabrics are reflected in very large volumes that suggest the freshness and freedom that women on holiday in Italy long for.
The collection wouldn’t be complete without accessories, from embroidered straw baskets to iconic shoes inspired by tradition. From the trainers, a true must-have in the Kiton universe (in cotton or cashmere and painted in classic colors but also in bolder shades), to the Sorrento/Capri-inspired sandals that are a fixture in any Italian summer worthy of the title. Yet, in this journey (which fashion has soaked up like a sponge), colors, motifs, stripes, bands and prints dominate. All of which are touches that go flawlessly with the garments that will be worn by models and presented in a resort lounge with patios that embody the power of the sea, the buzzing of cicadas and wind that carries with it the smell of jasmine, basil and rosemary, transforming the wardrobe into an adventure to be relished up to the last scent.
