On October 23, Hermès celebrated the opening of its newly expanded store at MixC Shenzhen, marking a significant upgrade to its previous location.
Located in the Luohu District, this single-level store spans 900 square meters and showcases sixteen key product categories from Hermès, making it the largest single-level store for the brand in China. With a total of 34 stores across the country, the MixC Shenzhen store stands out with a thoughtful design that blends the brand's aesthetic values and commitment to refined comfort with the local environment, cultural heritage, and urban flair.
The store features a façade and entrance adorned with jade-colored enamel and ceramic columns, evoking a serene bamboo grove, while reflecting ambient light to create a vibrant and airy feel. Visitors are welcomed by the classic bookplate pattern from the Faubourg motif, crafted from terrazzo in amber, green, and mother-of-pearl, at both entrances. Inside, natural light plays across the spacious layout, highlighting the curves of the architecture, high ceilings, and soft neutral tones.
The design aims to evoke the tranquil feel of a bamboo grove, presenting a calming first impression to shoppers. This reflects the lively and fast-paced spirit of Shenzhen, as the store is envisioned as a peaceful retreat within the urban landscape, inviting consumers to engage with the brand’s lifestyle aesthetics.
As you step onto the cozy, abstract-patterned carpets, the first area to catch your eye is the silk and accessories section, while to the right, the beauty and fragrance area boasts elegant jade-colored ceramic tiles. Continuing through the home and equestrian sections leads to dedicated areas for women’s, men’s, and leather goods. The jewelry and watch sections feature carpets inspired by plant motifs, each area carefully designed with exquisite craftsmanship and lighting to create distinct atmospheres. From bamboo weaving to porcelain, the new store celebrates local craftsmanship and traditions through its diverse elements.
Designed by the Parisian architecture firm RDAI, the store's overall concept draws from Shenzhen's innovative spirit. The combination of organic shapes, refined surfaces, natural colors, and detailed craftsmanship creates a harmonious ambiance. Additionally, the interior is enhanced by pieces from the Émile Hermès collection, including a tranquil forest painting by Jean-Luc Favero and playful watercolors by Alain Biet. Notably, the store also features contemporary photography from Hermès, such as the captivating black-and-white landscape photo of a horse, Coumenoole, Ireland, 1978, taken by Finnish photographer Pentti Sammallahti.
